Privacy Policy

This policy covers the website https://emule-qt.org. It does not cover the eMule Qt application itself: the application runs on your computer, and connects to the eD2K and Kademlia networks and to the servers you choose. It sends nothing to this website unless you submit a bug report.

Who we are

emule-qt.org is the website of eMule Qt, an open-source eMule client for Windows, macOS and Linux. The source code is on GitHub. You can reach us through the contact form.

What we collect

Browsing the site. You don’t need an account and we don’t run ads. Like every web server, ours briefly logs your IP address, the requested URL and your browser’s user agent, for security and troubleshooting.

Contact form. We store the name, email address and message you enter, and receive them by email. We use them only to answer you.

Bug reports. The bug report form stores what you enter: your name and email address (both optional), a title and a description. It also stores any files you attach, such as screenshots, log files, crash dumps and the application configuration, plus your IP address. Logs and configuration can contain IP addresses, file names, server lists and paths on your computer. Review them before you upload. Only the developers can see reports. We use your email address only to reply to your report.

Port test. The port test connects to the IP address and ports you are testing, then shows the result. It doesn’t save the result. A rate-limit counter derived from your IP address expires within an hour.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, along with your IP address and user agent. The Akismet spam filter checks each comment. An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to show your profile picture (Automattic privacy policy).

Cookies

The site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. If a cookie notice is shown, a cookie (emqt-ck) remembers that you dismissed it, for up to one year. If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies for one year. Logged-in administrators get the standard WordPress login cookies.

Third-party services

  • Cloudflare sits in front of this site to provide caching and protection against attacks. It processes every request, including your IP address (Cloudflare privacy policy).
  • Jetpack Stats (Automattic) counts page views and the referring sites. It doesn’t set a tracking cookie, and it doesn’t show us who you are (Automattic privacy policy).
  • Google reCAPTCHA protects the contact form and the bug report form from spam. It is loaded from google.com, which can set cookies and receives your IP address and browser data (Google privacy policy, terms).
  • Akismet (Automattic) checks comments and contact form messages for spam.
  • Pushover sends the developers a short notification with the title of each new bug report.

Download links and the source code point to GitHub. When you follow them, GitHub’s privacy statement applies. We never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep data

We keep bug reports and their attachments until the issue is resolved or the report is no longer useful, then delete them. We keep contact messages as long as needed to answer them. Comments stay until they are deleted. Server logs and rate-limit counters expire automatically.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. This includes a bug report you submitted. Please use the contact form. Under the GDPR, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

We update this page when the site changes. Last updated: October 18, 2026.
